Connections for Special Parents
At Connections for Special Parents we are coming together to create a better world for families raising kids special needs.
Working Towards a Better Tomorrow for families raising children with special needs.
Connections for Special Parents grew from an idea in the mind of a caring professional. Jean Davison, Occupational Therapist, had worked with children for many years, often in their homes. She came to realize that most families she encountered had a common need: fellowship and support from others with similar circumstances. Over time, Jean realized that she was in a position to be the connecting element for these families. She began looking for support, and in 2004, with the help of Royston Baptist Church, CSP was born.
Connections for Special Parents, Inc. (CSP) was formed to support and connect parents/caregivers raising a child with special needs. We are organized to share information and tips about successful parenting, offer opportunities that would give a child with special needs a chance to experience greater inclusion at school and in the community, connect parents/caregivers with resources needed to help each child meet his/her full potential, and help parents learn the skills needed to become more effective advocates for their child. Our greatest mission is to provide respite to caregivers who are continuously in the throes of caring for a child with very special needs.
The First Methodist Church in Hartwell has agreed to let us use their campground. If you would like to use the campground contact Teresa at (706)436-6756. If you use the campground, please make sure to be respectful and leave it like you found it.

We have a new camp director! We are thrilled to have Marlayna Marlayna Marie Witherell joining our team of the best teachers and paraprofessionals around! Here is a little about Marlayna.
I am so excited to have the opportunity to direct Jammin Jubilee this year. I come to CSP with a unique background and an absolute passion for people with special needs. I have a Master's in Special Education with an Autism endorsement and have been a special education teacher at Carnesville Elementary for 6 years. I currently work in a small group setting primarily with students who are on the spectrum. I tell people often that my students teach me daily. In the short time I have each of them, they impact me and become "my kids".
Contrary to what my students think, I do not live at school. I'm married to my high school sweetheart Tj and we have two boys, Tripp and Noah. My oldest son Tripp was born at 26 weeks and has had many challenges over the past 9 years. Seeing his strength, determination, and resilience to overcome each challenge has only pushed me to be a better mom and teacher.I can't wait to meet all the campers. We are going to have so much fun together this summer! See you soon!
